Dr. Eric Roy is a PhD chemist and founder of Hydroviv. Up until 2015, Eric spent his career developing technology that helped military, intelligence, and first responder personnel detect and neutralize "high consequence materials" like chemical warfare agents and homemade explosives.

In summer 2015, he learned about an underreported problem of high lead levels in Flint, Michigan's drinking water. Drawing on his experience as a chemist, and his understanding of reactive surfaces and sorbent materials, he developed a custom water filter that could actually handle the lead levels found in Flint, and donated them to daycares and families that couldn't afford clean water.

Over the next few years, this charitable effort turned into a water filtration company. In April of 2019, he appeared on ABC's Shark Tank, where he made an on-air deal with Marc Cuban.
