Ep. 131 - Kim Preis - Samson Martin
Kim appeared on Shark Tank back in 2011 to present her business Samson Martin, a maternity clothing line anchored by the cult favorite "Due In" tee.
After seven years of running the business out of her home and grossing over $1.4 million out of her basement it became clear it was time to change direction due to the 2008 economic climate.
While it was an incredible experience to appear on the show the outcome was nothing short of heartbreaking. Shortly after the show aired, she closed her business and went on to pursue my love and knowledge of fashion and join another Chicago startup as a Personal Stylist.
After seeing it through an extraordinary acquisition she went on to create her own brand once again running her own styling business as a content creator/blogger called @wearwithgenes. Like they say: "once an entrepreneur, always an entrepreneur!"
"Mr. Wonderful was tough on me and pushed me to think hard about my business even though I thought he was particularly tough claiming my business is dead. It was a great learning experience for me."
